PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kir Kapur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lazar Angelov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lazar Angelov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kir Kapur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lazar Angelov!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angelov stalks Kapur and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kapur's face. Kapur staggers backwards, shaken.
Angelov is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Angelov closes the distance and pushes Kapur back into the cage.

Kapur is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Angelov can't fight it off and eventually Kapur manages to take the fight to the floor. Angelov looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Angelov can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kapur wants to control from the top but Angelov keeps moving.
Kapur might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Kapur drops back looking for a leg! Angelov is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Angelov manages to kick Kapur off! Kapur jumps back into Angelov's guard.
Kapur postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kapur stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Angelov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kapur content to stall in guard here.
Kapur trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kapur's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Angelov wants to slow Kapur down by chopping away at his legs.
Kapur is looking for a counter combo.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Angelov dips to his left and cracks Kapur with an uppercut!
The fighters circle momentarily. Angelov darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Angelov gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Angelov tries to land a knee to the head but Kapur blocks with his arms.
Angelov fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Angelov fails to land.
Angelov taking a breather.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Angelov swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Kapur drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A head punch on the inside from Angelov fails to land.
Angelov looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Angelov misses with a knee to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Angelov lands a shoulder strike.
Angelov is trying to break the clinch but Kapur is controlling him.
Angelov scores with a shot to the side of Kapur's head.
Angelov is trying to break the clinch but Kapur has him pressed against the cage.

Kapur gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Angelov pushes Kapur off looking to stand but Kapur dives back in and keeps control.
Angelov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kapur is looking to take a break and control but Angelov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kapur moves nicely into side control.

Kapur wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Angelov, who protects the arm well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kapur is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Angelov will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Kapur works to advance to full mount. Angelov defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Kapur working for a guillotine from mount but Angelov is in no mood to give up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kapur has hold of Angelov's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Angelov manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kapur working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kir Kapur will probably get the nod.
That's time! Kapur's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kapur dodges the punch combination from Angelov.
Angelov lands with a nice combination. Kapur backs away looking to recover.
Angelov cracks Kapur with a good jab.

Angelov has managed to clinch.
Angelov doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Angelov tries to stall but Kapur uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Angelov tries to break the clinch but Kapur is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Angelov is looking to break free of the clinch but Kapur has double underhooks.
Angelov wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Kapur works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Kapur passes Angelov's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Kapur is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Angelov sees it coming and defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kapur passes to full mount!
Kapur is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Angelov is in real trouble.

Angelov is trying to escape but he's just digging himself into more trouble. Kapur manages to sink in the hooks and gets a rear naked choke to end the fight in impressive fashion.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kir Kapur!
