Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Fernadez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Danny Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Diego Fernadez!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fernadez feints a jab promting Jones to slip. Fernadez then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Jones slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Jones has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Fernadez swinging wildly here.
As Fernadez looks to move away, Jones throws a big counter combo bu Fernadez just gets out of the way.

Fernadez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jones manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jones throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Fernadez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Fernadez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Jones wants to sweep here but Fernadez controlling him for the moment.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.

Jones postures up in Fernadez's guard and throws a big left but Fernadez blocks it.

Jones looking to sit in guard and control but Fernadez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Fernadez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fernadez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jones is thwarting Fernadez's attempts to control the position.

Fernadez is trying to stand up here but Jones is controlling him well.

Jones is pressing down on Fernadez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fernadez is holding on for now.
Fernadez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jones throws a strike but Fernadez avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Jones wants to control from the top but Fernadez keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fernadez slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Fernadez tries to bum rush Jones with a series of wild strikes but Jones uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Fernadez throws a left and a right that both miss

and Jones counters with a shoot takedown. Fernadez fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jones is pushing down on Fernadez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fernadez is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jones trying to control the action but Fernadez is working from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jones with the ground and pound but Fernadez uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Fernadez throws a series of punches but Jones avoids them all with ease.

Jones throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fernadez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jones is in Fernadez's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones is really struggling to control Fernadez but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones throws an elbow that misses. Fernadez uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Fernadez!

Fernadez is fighting to break Jones's control of his arms but Jones is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Jones continues to stall.
Fernadez with a flurry of punches that miss.
We've been informed that Fernadez has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Fernadez scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Jones wants to control the position but Fernadez says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Fernadez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jones lands with a thumping leg kick.
Fernadez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fernadez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Fernadez. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Fernadez changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Fernadez moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Fernadez bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
A combination from Fernadez does no damage.
Jones drops down looking for a counter takedown but Fernadez sprawls and moves away.

Fernadez scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Jones is looking to counter the offense by Fernadez and move into the clinch.
Jones slips a jab and a cross from Fernadez.
Fernadez misses with a few strikes there.
As Fernadez tries to get set, Jones tries to push him back and clinch up but Fernadez manages to avoid the attempt.
Fernadez is breathing heavily.
Jones lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Fernadez cracks Jones with a right hand to the side of the head.
Jones thumps Fernadez with a low kick.
That kick from Jones tenderised Fernadez's leg. Fernadez is trying to keep his angry face on.

Fernadez drops Jones with a left right combo! Fernadez follows him down to the ground into side control.


Jones is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones struggling a bit here.
Oh Jones is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jones takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Fernadez working the body and head with strikes.
Jones dodges the ground and pound from Fernadez.
Jones seems to have got his legs back now.

Jones is trying to control Fernadez's posture but Fernadez avoids it.
Jones tries to improve position but can't.
Fernadez is trying to ground and pound but Jones uses the momentary lack of control by Fernadez to regain half guard.
Jones is trying to maintain the position but Fernadez is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diego Fernadez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fernadez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Fernadez lands a hook that stumbles Jones back into the cage. Fernadez follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Jones to the canvas! Fernadez pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Jones has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
