Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kip Aragus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Wexler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aragus comes to the cage accompanied by Kill of the Night - Gin Wigmore. Wexler has chosen Go To Sleep - Eminem as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kip Aragus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shawn Wexler!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aragus tests Wexler's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Wexler keeps the fight on the outside.
Aragus on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Aragus misses with a low kick.
Aragus doesn't manage to clinch there - Wexler circles away.
Wexler shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Aragus defends it nicely.
Kip Aragus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aragus lands with a hook. Wexler tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Wexler gets a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wexler tries to circle away but Aragus has him pinned against the cage.
Wexler scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Wexler tries a body shot but Aragus blocks it.

Aragus turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Aragus manages to end up in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wexler is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Wexler is trying to get back to full guard.

Aragus is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Aragus is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wexler is just riding it out for now. Aragus eventually gives up the hold.

Aragus is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Wexler makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Wexler.
Wexler wants to sweep but no luck.

Aragus is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Aragus tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wexler knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wexler is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Wexler misses with a hook. Aragus ducked under it nicely.
Aragus drops down looking for a counter takedown but Wexler sprawls and moves away.
Wexler fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wexler avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Aragus is looking to clinch but Wexler is avoiding it.
Wexler misses with a wild body shot.
Wexler pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Aragus swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Wexler throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wexler swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Aragus throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wexler tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Aragus is in Wexler's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Aragus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wexler swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kip Aragus dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Aragus moves into range and clinches up with Wexler.

Aragus has clasped his hands together around Wexler's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Aragus has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Wexler!
Wexler sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Aragus prevents Wexler from improving his position.
Wexler won't allow Aragus to pass to mount.
Kip Aragus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Wexler tries to lock up and control but Aragus gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Wexler is looking for a triangle but Aragus pushes his legs off easily.

Aragus is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Wexler is defending well though. Aragus let's go of the attempt for now.

Aragus is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Aragus is trying to stick to Wexler's back but Wexler is turning into Aragus. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Aragus's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Wexler.

Wexler is looking to take a break and control but Aragus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wexler passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Aragus!
Aragus avoids a series of strikes thrown by Wexler.
Wexler tries to control but Aragus wriggling away.
Wexler looking to control and managing it successfully.

Wexler can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Aragus is looking to escape.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


No luck with that takedown attempt from Wexler.
Wexler slips a straight right by Aragus.
A little jabbing left from Wexler on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Wexler shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Aragus as he avoids it easily.
Aragus fails with an attempt to clinch.
Aragus is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wexler can do to turn this around?

Wexler swats away the attempt to clinch by Aragus.
Wexler misses with a body shot.
Aragus wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Wexler throws a good cross that connects.
Aragus takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

The fight stays on the outside here - Aragus looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Wexler shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Aragus as he jumps to the side.
Aragus changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Kip Aragus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawn Wexler.

Wexler swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Aragus tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wexler swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A nice side step and Wexler releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Aragus shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Aragus was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Aragus is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Wexler can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Aragus, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Kip Aragus decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
