The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fretwell throws a nice looking combination but Vasilevskiy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Vasilevskiy looks to throw the jab but Fretwell is out of range.

Fretwell let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Fretwell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've been informed that Fretwell has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Fretwell avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Fretwell defending well as Vasilevskiy loads up on a big left hand.
Fretwell darts in looking for a takedown but Vasilevskiy gets double underhooks and turns Fretwell into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vasilevskiy takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Fretwell shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fretwell showed some decent athleticism there.
