Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gilbert Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy La Frappe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gilbert Santos !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jimmy La Frappe!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos wants to clinch up but La Frappe keeps it at a distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Santos with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Santos using the Thai plumb to throw knees but La Frappe has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

La Frappe jumps into guard, dragging Santos to the mat.

Santos avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Santos stopping the sweep attempt from La Frappe.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
La Frappe pulls Santos in close to his closed guard and prevents Santos from doing any damage or advancing position.

La Frappe is desperately trying to improve his position but Santos has a good base and remains in mount.
Santos is looking to stand but La Frappe has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
La Frappe can't escape the position.

La Frappe is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Santos fails with an attempt to clinch.
La Frappe let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

La Frappe appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Gilbert Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santos tries to close the distance and clinch but La Frappe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Santos gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Santos can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as La Frappe controls the pace.
Let's hope that La Frappe has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Santos won't allow La Frappe to get back to his feet.
La Frappe pulls Santos in close to prevent any damage.
La Frappe wants to stand up but Santos is controlling him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Santos tries to keep at a distance but La Frappe has taken the fight into the clinch.

Santos gets underhooks to prevent La Frappe's takedown attempt.
Santos tries to land a knee to the head but La Frappe blocks with his arms.
La Frappe's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
La Frappe changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Santos fights it off and pushes away nicely.
La Frappe shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gilbert Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy La Frappe.

La Frappe moves into the clinch.
La Frappe jumps guard but Santos stands there with La Frappe around his waist. La Frappe gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Santos throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but La Frappe blocks it with crossed arms.

La Frappe is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Santos to keep the fight standing.

La Frappe has Santos pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. La Frappe pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Santos tumbling to the mat - La Frappe dives into Santos 's guard.
La Frappe wants to pass the guard but Santos is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy La Frappe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Santos wants to clinch.
Santos tries to close the distance and clinch up but La Frappe swats him away and circles back towards the center.

La Frappe manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Santos on his heels. He'll look to pass Santos 's guard now, I'm sure.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

La Frappe is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Santos pulls his head out easily.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Santos seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and La Frappe counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Santos tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. La Frappe manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

La Frappe has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

La Frappe throws a wild body kick that Santos sees coming a mile off.

La Frappe shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Santos 's guard.

Jimmy La Frappe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well La Frappe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
