Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Slayer Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alfie Solomon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Slayer Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alfie Solomon!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Solomon scores with a sloppy right hand. Mason should have avoided that one.
Solomon misses with a few strikes there.

Mason shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Solomon is trying to defend but Mason finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Mason throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Mason seems to be looking for submissions.
Solomon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mason. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mason wants to control but Solomon is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

so Mason counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Mason advances to half guard.

Mason is trying to work for a kimura but Solomon is defending well.
Solomon is trying to stand up here but Mason is controlling him well.
Solomon is looking to improve his position.
Mason wants to pass to mount but Solomon is defending the position.

Solomon is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mason wants to pass the guard but Solomon is keeping the position.

Mason wants to control from the top but Solomon keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mason misses with a takedown attempt - Solomon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mason shoots for a double leg takedown but Solomon sprawls well. He's pushed Mason's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Solomon leaves Mason with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slayer Mason. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mason walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Mason closes this distance looking for a takedown but Solomon circles away.
Mason is breathing heavily.
Solomon is looking to land body kicks.
Mason shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Solomon pinned against the cage. Solomon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nice straight punches there by Solomon. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Solomon.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Solomon fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Mason takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Slayer Mason has been cut.
Solomon throws a shot from downtown. Mason moves away and avoids it.
Mason takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Solomon tries to bum rush Mason with a series of wild strikes but Mason uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mason shoots for a takedown but Solomon saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mason tries to score a power double leg takedown but Solomon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mason somewhat.
Solomon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mason.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slayer Mason. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Solomon misses with a wild combination.
Mason appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mason tries for a takedown but Solomon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Solomon scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mason doesn't seem bothered though.

Solomon lands with a hook. Mason tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Slayer Mason is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mason has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Solomon fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Solomon goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Mason takes one to the side of the head.
Mason on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Solomon. Solomon obviously looking to wear him down.

Solomon swinging wildly here.
Mason takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Solomon throws a series of punches but Mason moves out of range.
Mason moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Solomon lands a jab to the nose.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mason.
Solomon misses with a body shot.
Solomon lunges at Mason with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mason's hand.
Mason gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Solomon counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A nice inside leg kick there by Solomon. That's going to slow Mason down.
Solomon lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Solomon throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Solomon fails to land with a series of punches.
Solomon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mason tries to counter with a takedown but Solomon is quick to defend against it.
Mason shoots and misses
and Solomon makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Solomon stalks Mason and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mason's face. Mason staggers backwards, shaken.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A left lands for Solomon.

Solomon misses with a double jab.
Solomon scores with a hook to the body. Mason takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Mason goes for a double leg but Solomon avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Solomon continues to drive forward.
Jab, jab by Solomon - just one landing.
Solomon throws a shot to the body.
Mason fails with an attempt to clinch.
Solomon lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Solomon's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mason under the eye.
Solomon throws a series of punches but Mason moves out of range.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Solomon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Alfie Solomon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Slayer Mason's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Solomon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mason dives in for a single leg takedown but Solomon sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Solomon cracks Mason with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Mason drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Solomon's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Solomon duly obliges.
Mason's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Solomon connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mason scrambles back to his feet.
Solomon throws a quick inside leg kick.
Mason changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Solomon tries to avoid it but Mason manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Solomon to the ground. Solomon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Solomon lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Solomon.
Solomon is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Mason rather than just go for the knockout.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Solomon lands with a nice combination. Mason backs away looking to recover.

and Solomon counters with a nice uppercut.
Solomon's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Solomon duly obliges.

Mason drives through with a takedown into Solomon's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Mason postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Solomon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mason, into his guard.

Solomon works over Mason with some ground and pound from guard.

Mason looking for a sweep. Not yet Mason, not yet.
Solomon wants to get up but he can't break Mason's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Solomon stays in close to Mason's body and controls the position.
Mason trying to keep a closed guard but Solomon is proving a slippery customer.
Solomon distracts Mason with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Solomon throwing strikes but missing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Solomon connects with a couple of short punches.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Solomon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Slayer Mason has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
A chopping leg kick lands by Solomon.
Solomon will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mason fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Solomon closes the distance and clinches.
Mason has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Solomon is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Mason goes for a takedown in the clinch but Solomon prevents it.
Solomon lands a damaging elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Alfie Solomon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Solomon winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
