Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roderick Walter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roderick Walter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Overeem!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walter shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Overeem trying to control here.
Walter throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Overeem wants to get back to full guard.
Overeem is trying to stand back up but Walter is controlling him
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Walter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Walter stops Overeem from getting back to his feet.

Overeem keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Overeem has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Walter is working away from the top position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Walter gets caught flat footed, as Overeem shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Overeem trying to control the position from guard on top but Walter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Overeem looking to sit in guard and control but Walter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Walter engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Walter postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Overeem looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Walter passes into side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Walter just content to control the position.
Walter connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Overeem some visible discomfort.
Walter is chipping away with strikes.
Walter takes a little break here. Overeem wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Walter's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Walter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Overeem to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Overeem throws an elbow that misses. Walter uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Overeem's guard. Nice move by Walter!

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Walter's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Walter postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Walter is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Overeem can do to turn this around?

Walter stays in close to Overeem's body and controls the position.
Overeem is trying to control the position but Walter postures up.
Overeem is looking to stand up but Walter isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Walter shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Overeem defends it nicely.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Walter tries a head kick but it misses.
Overeem throws a combination. Walter tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Roderick Walter has been cut.
Walter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Overeem darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Overeem is breathing heavily.
Overeem with the ground and pound but Walter uses the opportunity to regain guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Walter holds on and takes a little breather.
Overeem wants to stand and escape but instead Walter has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Walter distracts Overeem with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Walter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Walter seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Overeem for as long as he can get away with.
Further stalling from Walter.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Walter is standing up over Overeem. Overeem looks to escape but Walter dives into side control.
Overeem pushes Walter away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Walter gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Walter looks up at the clock and then as Overeem takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Walter smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Overeem tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Walter wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Roderick Walter will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Overeem feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Overeem passes Walter's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Walter is defending against the submission attempts here by Overeem.
Overeem wants to control but Walter is keeping him busy.

Walter manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Overeem manages to get himself to full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Overeem utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Overeem wants to stand up but Walter is controlling him.

Walter is controlling Overeem's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Walter regains full guard. Nicely done.
Walter is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Overeem must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Walter is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Walter slows the pace down in half guard.
Walter looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Overeem with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Walter has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Overeem defend it? Walter steps over the head and cranks it - Overeem is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Walter!
