PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Byrne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brock Lesnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brad Byrne!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Byrne tries to close the distance and clinch but Lesnar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Byrne throws a head kick but Lesnar moves out of range.

Lesnar takes the fight into the clinch.

Lesnar jumps guard.

Lesnar looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Lesnar manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Brad Byrne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lesnar scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Byrne feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Byrne drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lesnar manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Byrne has Lesnar in his guard.


Byrne throws his legs up looking for a submission but Lesnar uses it to pass to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Byrne is looking for a sweep.
Lesnar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lesnar is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Byrne's shoulder. That is not cool.
Lesnar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Byrne is looking to regain half guard here but Lesnar keeps moving and retains side control.

Byrne explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Byrne shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lesnar defends it nicely.

and Lesnar cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Lesnar shoots in but no luck this time.
Lesnar throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Byrne is looking for the big counter here.
Byrne shoots in looking for a takedown but Lesnar manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Byrne's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Brock Lesnar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brad Byrne.

Byrne leaves Lesnar with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Byrne shoots in looking for a takedown but Lesnar manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Byrne's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Byrne shoots in but no luck this time.
Lesnar closes the distance and clinches up with Byrne, looking for a takedown. Lesnar pushes Byrne against the cage but Byrne circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Byrne throws a combination that misses
and Lesnar makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Lesnar closes the distance and clinches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lesnar can't break the clinch.

Lesnar ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lesnar no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Lesnar is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Byrne trying to control the position from guard on top but Lesnar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lesnar wriggles free and stands up.

Byrne drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lesnar dives on top into guard.


Lesnar is sitting in close to Byrne's body. Byrne has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Lesnar is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Lesnar is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Byrne.
