Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Diego Trevino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kev Rubio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rubio is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by turn down for what. Kev Rubio has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Diego Trevino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kev Rubio!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rubio connects with a high kick.


It looks like Diego Trevino has been cut.
Rubio swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rubio misses with a body shot
and Trevino counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Rubio is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Trevino tries to clinch up but Rubio circles away and keeps his distance.
Trevino tries to clinch but Rubio is having none of it.
Rubio throws a nice looking combination but Trevino bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rubio moves in looking to clinch but Trevino pushes him off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rubio let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Rubio unleashes a big counter combination but Trevino bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Trevino dodges the punch combination from Rubio.
Trevino tries to clinch there but Rubio circles away.
Rubio throws a low kick, looking for Trevino's leg but Trevino calmly moves out of range.
Trevino is looking to counter with head kicks.

Rubio gets tackled into the cage by Trevino. Trevino maintains the clinch.

Rubio's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Trevino counters with a series of strikes. Rubio will be more careful next time no doubt.
Rubio throws a solid leg kick but Trevino takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Rubio.

and Rubio makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Rubio pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Trevino shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rubio's guard.

Trevino drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rubio manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Trevino has Rubio in his guard.


Trevino working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rubio doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rubio manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Trevino looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rubio is one step ahead there.

Rubio wants to stand but Trevino has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Rubio chips away with some ground and pound.

Trevino looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Trevino is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Trevino is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Rubio got a little sloppy there for a moment and Trevino has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rubio has managed to get both his arms back between Trevino's legs - danger averted.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Despite the aggression on Rubio's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Trevino is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rubio is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rubio has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rubio is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Trevino rather than just go for the knockout.

Trevino throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rubio was covering up waiting for the punch and Trevino finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Rubio tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Trevino paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Trevino swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Trevino went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
No joy there for Rubio, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

A close second round but Kev Rubio will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

I would just about give that final round to Kev Rubio.
I've got Rubio winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Kev Rubio rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
