PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Bowie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and john green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Bowie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, john green!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
green changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bowie tries to avoid it but green manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bowie to the ground. Bowie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
green shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bowie as he jumps to the side.
Bowie smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
The fight stays on the outside here - green looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bowie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. green looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Bowie tries for a kimura but green is defending well.

Bowie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but green is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Bowie misses with the ground and pound.

Bowie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bowie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on green's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
green is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bowie has just dragged him back down to the mat.
green manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bowie's best efforts.
Bowie takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bowie could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Bowie is working for a submission of some sort.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
green makes his way to full guard. A much better position for green.
Bowie tries to free his leg and advance position but green is retaining full guard.

green is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
green can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bowie controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bowie is breathing heavily.
Bowie trying to control but green is working from the bottom.

green has his hands on Bowie's head, controlling the position.
Bowie won't allow green to sweep him here.
green working a defensive guard but Bowie passes into half guard.

Bowie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Bowie has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
green is pressing down on Bowie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bowie wants to sweep but no luck.
Bowie has green pulled in close to control his posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jason Bowie just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

green gets caught flat footed, as Bowie shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Bowie slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
green is looking for a sweep.
green is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Bowie is controlling him well.

The referee asks Bowie politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bowie prefers to stall for the moment though.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


green ducks right into an uppercut from Bowie.

Bowie closes the distance and clinches.
Bowie is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but green is keeping busy.

Bowie trying to control the position here.
green distracts Bowie with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
green trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Bowie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
green looking to pass the guard.
Bowie wants to sweep here but green controlling him for the moment.

Bowie has his foot on green's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. green works his way back into a safe position though.

Bowie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but green can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

green gets to his feet - Bowie follows without any prompting.

so Bowie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

green looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Bowie stands up from guard. Let's bang!
green fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bowie looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bowie moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
green tries for a takedown but Bowie circles away easily

and Bowie counters by clinching up.
Bowie jumps guard but green stands there with Bowie around his waist. Bowie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

green drags the fight down to the ground.

green has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bowie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bowie stands and throws green's legs to the side, diving into side control.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
green wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bowie is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt green will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
green tries to bench press Bowie off him but Bowie keeps the position.

Bowie has worked his way into a potential kimura here. green is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Bowie yanks on the arm and green is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Bowie.
