Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Stryfe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaw Maxwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaw Maxwell will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Stryfe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shaw Maxwell!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maxwell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Maxwell looks to land a left hand but Stryfe moved out of range nicely.

Stryfe fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Maxwell, pushing him back against the cage.

Maxwell breaks from the clinch.
Maxwell uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Stryfe.
The fighters circling - Stryfe throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Maxwell misses with a hook.
Maxwell scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Nathan Stryfe has been cut.
Maxwell fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stryfe uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Maxwell.
Maxwell showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Stryfe.
Maxwell scores with a punch to the head.
Maxwell uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Stryfe has time to react.
Maxwell misses with a double jab

and Stryfe holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Stryfe keeps control of Maxwell as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Stryfe throws an elbow but it misses.
Maxwell wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Maxwell has had enough of the clinch but Stryfe keeps him there for the moment.
Stryfe holding his opponent close, against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maxwell wants to break free but Stryfe has control.
Maxwell is trying to break free.

Stryfe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Maxwell connects with a nice looking jab.
Left hook, right uppercut from Maxwell.
Stryfe throws a head kick but Maxwell moves out of range.
Maxwell lands a big shot that drops Stryfe! Can he finish him?


Stryfe is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Maxwell drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Maxwell seems to have locked his on tight now - Stryfe screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Maxwell, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Shaw Maxwell!
