Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boba Solid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul comes to the cage accompanied by Volbeat-Warrior's call. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ethan Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Boba Solid!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Solid throws a leg kick which misses Paul's front leg but catches the back leg as Paul tries to avoid it.
Paul lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Boba Solid has been cut.
Paul fails with a takedown attempt.
Paul slips a jab and a cross from Solid.
Solid misses with a low kick.
A combination from Paul does no damage.
Solid appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Ethan Paul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paul throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Solid.

Solid gets tackled into the cage by Paul. Paul maintains the clinch.
Paul tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Solid changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Paul fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Solid loads up on a big right hand but Paul slips the punch.
Solid lunges at Paul with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Paul's hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Solid swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Paul uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Solid has time to react.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Solid holds on and takes a little breather.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Paul accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Paul wants to control from the top but Solid keeps moving.
Solid is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Solid told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Solid stuffs the takedown attempt from Paul. Paul gets slowly back to his feet.

Paul fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Solid sprawls well initially but Paul persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Paul looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ethan Paul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boba Solid.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Paul ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Solid moves away.

Solid has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Paul avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Solid throws a head kick that misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Solid misses the target.
Paul is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Solid can do to turn this around?

Solid throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Paul.
Paul tries to close the distance and clinch up but Solid swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Paul looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Solid tried to score with a low kick but Paul checks it.
Solid throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Paul tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Paul tries for a takedown but Solid sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Paul displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Solid throws out the jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Solid counters with a low kick, right behind Paul 's knee.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Paul just misses with a elbow thrown towards Solid's brow.

Solid has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Paul avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Solid tries to stall but Paul uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Solid looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Solid is breathing heavily.
Paul lands a two punch combo.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Paul throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Paul dives in and scores a takedown into Solid's guard.

Solid seems to have recovered his senses.

Paul thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Solid wants to stand and escape but Paul is having none of it.
Solid is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Solid manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Paul manages to get himself to full guard.


Paul is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Solid is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Paul is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Solid has his hands clasped together but Paul extends and breaks Solid's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Paul.
