The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Campion connects with a high kick.
Campion lands a nice hook to Gann's body. Gann takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Gann gets a double leg takedown into Campion's guard.
Gann stops Campion from standing up.
Gann pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Campion is keeping the position for now.
Gann lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gann drops back, looking for a kneebar! Campion looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Campion looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Campion!

Gann on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gann tries to get out of the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gann holds on to Campion's head and controls the position momentarily.

Luke Campion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Campion. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Gann wants the takedown. Campion is fighting it off but Gann persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Campion's guard against the cage.
Gann postures up and lands a big shot to Campion's brow.
Gann looking to sit in guard and control but Campion gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gann wants to stand up but Campion is controlling him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Campion lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gann circles away quickly and effectively.
Campion takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gann shoots in looking for a takedown but Campion manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gann's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bubba Gann. That's going to take a lot out of him.
