The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benn closes the distance but Haney moves to the side
and Haney counters with a stiff right hand.

Benn shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Benn not doing much here.
Benn's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Haney wants to get back to full guard.

Benn postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Haney to stand up.
VJ Benn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Benn fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Haney sprawls well initially but Benn persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
