Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Simenkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirko Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sergei Simenkov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mirko Liddell!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Roberts and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell tries for a takedown but Simenkov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Liddell closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Simenkov's guard.

Simenkov working for a triangle but Liddell defends it easily.
Liddell told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Liddell trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Simenkov has momentary wrist control but Liddell slips an elbow through the middle.

Liddell drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Simenkov dives on top into guard.

Simenkov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Liddell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simenkov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Liddell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Liddell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Simenkov defends well.
Simenkov works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Simenkov working over Liddell with some ground and pound. Liddell looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Simenkov not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Simenkov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Simenkov is keen to just control but Liddell is a slippery customer.

Simenkov wants to work for an arm triangle but Liddell is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Liddell actively working from the bottom here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Simenkov has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Liddell defend it? Simenkov steps over the head and cranks it - Liddell is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Simenkov!
