The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lumberjack tries to close the distance and clinch up but Apila swats him away and circles back towards the center. Apila scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Apila throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Lumberjack is defending against the submission attempts here by Apila.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Apila. Apila taking a breather here. Apila landing a few strikes. Apila is putting a hurting on Lumberjack here, landing some big shots from side control. Lumberjack struggling a bit here. Apila connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Lumberjack some visible discomfort.
Apila wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lumberjack, who protects the arm well. Lumberjack tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Apila wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Lumberjack knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Apila on the ground. Apila is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Apila!
