The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bastos swats away the attempt to clinch by Nicolau.

Nicolau lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bastos circles away quickly and effectively.

Bastos fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nicolau sprawls well initially but Bastos persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nicolau wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bastos is looking to stall here but Nicolau recovers full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bastos looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Bastos seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nicolau does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
