PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Oswaldo Fletcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Magnus Jorgensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Magnus Jorgensen was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Oswaldo Fletcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Magnus Jorgensen!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jorgensen wants to clinch.

Jorgensen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fletcher thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Jorgensen trying to control the position from guard on top but Fletcher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jorgensen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Fletcher wants to sweep here but Jorgensen controlling him for the moment.
Fletcher could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Jorgensen wants to control from the top but Fletcher keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jorgensen controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Fletcher throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Jorgensen counters by moving into the clinch.
Jorgensen lands a right hand that snaps the head of Fletcher backwards.

Fletcher wants the takedown. Jorgensen is fighting it off but Fletcher persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jorgensen's guard against the cage.
Jorgensen has his hands on Fletcher's head, controlling the position.
Fletcher with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jorgensen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jorgensen is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fletcher throws an elbow that misses. Jorgensen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fletcher's guard. Nice move by Jorgensen!

Jorgensen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Jorgensen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Fletcher looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jorgensen's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Fletcher attempts a counter takedown but Jorgensen avoids it well and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Fletcher wants to control from the top but Jorgensen keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fletcher throws a big right hand that misses.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Jorgensen looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Jorgensen instigates a clinch.

Jorgensen turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Jorgensen manages to end up in side control.

A lull in the action here as Jorgensen stalls from top position.
Fletcher is not content to let Jorgensen control the position.
Jorgensen taking a break here but Fletcher is having none of it and regains half guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fletcher is on top in guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Fletcher throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jorgensen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Fletcher loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jorgensen keeping moving, preventing Fletcher from controlling successfully.
Fletcher is fighting to break Jorgensen's control of his arms but Jorgensen is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Fletcher takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Oswaldo Fletcher is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jorgensen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fletcher moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
As Jorgensen tries to get set, Fletcher tries to push him back and clinch up but Jorgensen manages to avoid the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Oswaldo Fletcher will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Jorgensen wants to control but Fletcher is keeping him busy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Magnus Jorgensen!
After the fight, Magnus Jorgensen was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
