Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Celestino Nicolau!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Nettles!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicolau tries a head kick but it misses.
Nicolau definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nicolau enables Nettles to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nicolau manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Nettles scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Nicolau wants to stand but Nettles is controlling the position.
Nettles chips away with some ground and pound.
Nettles showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Let's hope that Nettles has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nettles wanted to stand there but Nicolau had control of the position.
Nicolau wants to get back to his feet but Nettles is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nettles clinches with his opponent.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nettles keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Nicolau's efforts to push away.

Nettles manages to break the clinch.

Nettles shoots in and bounces Nicolau off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Nicolau wants to stand but Nettles is controlling the position.
Nettles sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Nicolau's guard.
Nettles works his foot free and advances to mount.

Nettles controlling his opponent.
Nettles's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
It looks like Nettles might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Nettles wants to get back to his feet but Nicolau is holding on tight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nettles fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Nettles dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nettles avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Nettles breaks from the clinch.

Nicolau moves into the clinch successfully.
Nettles pushes off an throws an elbow but Nicolau leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Nettles manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Chris Nettles has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nettles has a closed guard, preventing Nicolau from standing up.

Nettles is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nicolau is aware though and is defending well.
Nettles tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nicolau would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nicolau blocks the body kick.

Nettles shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nicolau napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Nicolau is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Nettles tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Nicolau is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Nettles has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Nettles has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Nicolau is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Nettles yanks on the arm and Nicolau is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Nettles.
