PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Goldman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Soham Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goldman's entrance music is Bomb Hands -Social Code. A fine choice. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Soham Roy was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Goldman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Soham Roy!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goldman lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Goldman catches Roy with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
A looping hook to the body misses from Roy. Goldman does a little dance to reset his feet.

Roy has Goldman up against the cage in a clinch.
Goldman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Roy pulls him back up using the underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roy tightens his grip and picks Goldman up, before dumping him to the ground. Goldman manages to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Goldman has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Roy is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Goldman.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Goldman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Roy stalling away here and it's allowed Goldman to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Roy connects with a nice short shot to Goldman's temple.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Goldman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Roy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Roy throws a body punch but Goldman moves out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Roy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Goldman moves away.

Roy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Goldman throws out the jab.
Roy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Goldman swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Roy.

Soham Roy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Roy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
