PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cody Weiew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weiew ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
James shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

James shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Weiew's guard.

Weiew wants to stand but James is controlling the position.

James distracts Weiew with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Weiew working for submissions but it's allowed James to get to half guard.
Weiew might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
James thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

James landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
James thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Weiew's head.
James frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Weiew defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from James.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

James unloads with some shots from mount but Weiew bucks and avoids them well.

Weiew has left one of his arms exposed and James doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Weiew screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
