Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Hare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Metrin Slerba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Peter Hare!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Metrin Slerba!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Slerba as Hare shoots in.
Slerba is looking to slow Hare down with leg kicks.
Hare tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Slerba fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hare has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Good leg kick by Slerba there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Slerba has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hare.
Slerba lands with a straight right. Hare didn't see that one coming.
Hare tries to clinch there but Slerba circles away.

Hare fails to land the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hare throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

A head kick from Slerba lands but Hare takes it in his stride.
Hare tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Slerba manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Slerba fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hare.

Hare tries to score a power double leg takedown but Slerba sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hare somewhat.

Slerba takes a shot to the body in his stride.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hare tries to score a power double leg takedown but Slerba sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hare somewhat.

Slerba dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hare. That did some damage!

Metrin Slerba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Slerba feints and then cracks Hare's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hare down.

Metrin Slerba is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Slerba works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Slerba feints and then cracks Hare's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hare down.

It looks like Peter Hare has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Slerba displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hare.

Hare tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Slerba counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Slerba throws a quick inside leg kick.
Slerba scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Hare tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Slerba connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Hare steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Slerba. That one must have hurt.
Hare shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A slapping body kick lands there for Slerba.
Slerba lands a head shot.
Slerba feints and then cracks Hare's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hare down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hare wants to clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hare.
Slerba is looking to slow Hare down with leg kicks.
Slerba turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Slerba avoids the head kick by Hare.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hare takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Hare fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Slerba avoids it really well and circles away.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Slerba in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Slerba has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A nice leg kick lands there from Slerba.

Slerba throws a good cross that connects.
Slerba scores with a nice right hand.
Slerba throws a leg kick which misses Hare's front leg but catches the back leg as Hare tries to avoid it.
Slerba clobbers Hare with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Hare tries to keep at a distance but Slerba has taken the fight into the clinch.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Hare. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Slerba creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Hare's defenses.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Slerba connects with a knee to the head.
Hare tries to pull guard but Slerba holds him up against the cage and eventually Hare drops back down to his feet.
Hare is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Slerba is defending well.
Slerba lands a nice uppercut.
Slerba lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Hare stalling in the clinch but Slerba improves position.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Slerba breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hare looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Slerba is fending him off so far but Hare persists. Nope, Slerba circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Metrin Slerba showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hare forces Slerba back against the cage and clinches.
Hare looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Slerba can't find room to land a body shot as Hare controls the action.

Hare on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Hare tries to close the distance and clinch but Slerba swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hare looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Hare throws a knee to the head but misses.
Slerba blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Slerba is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Metrin Slerba is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Slerba manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Well Slerba has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
