Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yong Blankenship (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Casper Vanderhose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yong Blankenship!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Casper Vanderhose!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Francis DeMontford and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vanderhose closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vanderhose lands in his opponent's guard.
Vanderhose slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Vanderhose throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Blankenship works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Blankenship looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Blankenship wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vanderhose controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Blankenship has a closed guard, preventing Vanderhose from standing up.

Vanderhose throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Blankenship fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Blankenship fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vanderhose avoids it really well and circles away.

Vanderhose scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Vanderhose wants to lay and pray for a moment but Blankenship keeps working.

Vanderhose's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Blankenship wants to get back to his feet.
Vanderhose is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Blankenship will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Blankenship is trying to buck Vanderhose off.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Vanderhose scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Vanderhose tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Vanderhose has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Blankenship is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Vanderhose's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vanderhose is keen to just control but Blankenship is a slippery customer.
Blankenship is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Vanderhose controlling the pace.
Blankenship really is a fat lump.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Blankenship makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Blankenship.
Vanderhose wants to control from the top but Blankenship keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Casper Vanderhose dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Vanderhose dodges the punch combination from Blankenship.
It seemed like Vanderhose was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Vanderhose feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Vanderhose postures up in Blankenship's guard and throws a big left but Blankenship blocks it.
Blankenship wants to sweep but no luck.
Vanderhose has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Vanderhose sitting in guard here, content to control.
Casper Vanderhose has got the better of the ground game so far.
Vanderhose wants to control from the top but Blankenship keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vanderhose pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Blankenship is keeping the position for now.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Nice sprawl there from Vanderhose as Blankenship shoots in.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Blankenship enables Vanderhose to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Blankenship manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Vanderhose is looking to work some ground and pound but Blankenship has wrist control.

Blankenship is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Vanderhose tries to free his leg and advance position but Blankenship is retaining full guard.

Vanderhose's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Yong Blankenship seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blankenship throws a head kick that misses
and Vanderhose counters with an inside leg kick.
Blankenship lands a slapping body shot.
Blankenship throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
And Vanderhose responds with a good body kick, but Blankenship manages to step out the way in time.
Blankenship throws a sloppy head kick and Vanderhose moves out of range easily.
Blankenship throws a low kick but it's checked well by Vanderhose.
Blankenship throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vanderhose's waist but Vanderhose gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Blankenship off to one side.
Vanderhose unleashes a big counter combination but Blankenship bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Vanderhose shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Blankenship is not content to let Vanderhose control the position.
Vanderhose thows a huge punch but Blankenship dodges it nicely.
Blankenship regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Vanderhose.
Blankenship might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Vanderhose is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Casper Vanderhose showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Blankenship's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Vanderhose stuffs the takedown attempt from Blankenship. Blankenship gets slowly back to his feet.

Vanderhose closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vanderhose lands in his opponent's guard.

Blankenship looks to land a left hand but Vanderhose moved out of range nicely.
Blankenship walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Vanderhose checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Good leg kick by Blankenship there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Vanderhose closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Blankenship's guard.
Blankenship being controlled here, momentarily.
Vanderhose is continuing to stall.
Let's hope that Vanderhose has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Blankenship is looking to stand up but Vanderhose isn't so interested in that idea.
Blankenship tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Vanderhose seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vanderhose accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Vanderhose shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Blankenship manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Vanderhose won't allow Blankenship to sweep him here.
Vanderhose not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Blankenship is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Vanderhose postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Yong Blankenship has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Casper Vanderhose is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Vanderhose.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
