And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ellis clinches up against the cage.
Ellis changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dougherty fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ellis thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Dougherty if he has to take too many more of those.

Ellis shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dougherty 's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dougherty is on top in guard.

and Ellis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ellis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dougherty circles away quickly and effectively.
Dougherty drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ellis defends it well.
Dougherty tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ellis misses with a series of wild punches.
Dougherty fails with the takedown.
Ellis wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Ellis fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Dougherty is looking to control Ellis's arms but Ellis gets an underhook and turns him. Now Dougherty has his back to the cage.

Ellis has Dougherty pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dougherty manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyler Ellis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ellis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ellis goes for a takedown in the clinch but Dougherty prevents it.
Ellis drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dougherty pulls his leg out and moves away.

It looks like Dougherty might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Dougherty is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Ellis is trying to escape and Dougherty transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Ellis is forced to tap! Nice work there by Dougherty ! Very nice indeed!
