Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rob Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackson Spencer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rob Ramirez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jackson Spencer!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramirez shoots in but no luck this time.
Ramirez tries to clinch there but Spencer circles away.
Ramirez fails with the takedown

and Spencer counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Spencer wants to control from the top but Ramirez keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Spencer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Spencer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Ramirez controls Spencer momentarily but Spencer frees himself.
Ramirez tries to strike from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ramirez has closed the distance and engaged Spencer in a clinch.
Ramirez gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Spencer.
Spencer is working for takedown but Ramirez is calmly controlling the position for now.

Spencer lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Ramirez looks like he's trying to stand up.

Ramirez is looking to improve his position.

Spencer is looking for a kimura here.
Ramirez is looking to control Spencer's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ramirez avoid being mounted?
Spencer is looking to take a break and control but Ramirez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Spencer is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Ramirez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Spencer is working away from the top position though.
Spencer seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ramirez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ramirez wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Ramirez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Ramirez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ramirez shoots in looking for a takedown but Spencer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ramirez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rob Ramirez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Spencer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ramirez was covering up waiting for the punch and Spencer finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Spencer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ramirez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Spencer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ramirez is keeping the position for now.
Spencer wants to control from the top but Ramirez keeps moving.

Spencer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ramirez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Spencer, into his guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spencer has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Tenacity Elite - 17 Coaches. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Spencer seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Ramirez is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
