Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edmund Becker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janga Pewale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Edmund Becker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Janga Pewale!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pewale closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Becker did well to prevent Pewale getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pewale missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Becker tries to roll over but Pewale keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pewale is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Becker is just riding it out for now. Pewale eventually gives up the hold.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pewale throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Pewale is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Becker doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pewale.
Becker is looking for a sweep. Pewale is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Becker makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Becker.

Becker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pewale gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Becker seems keen to control Pewale's posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pewale shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Becker napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Becker looking for a sweep but Pewale has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Becker avoids a strike by Pewale and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Pewale's guard! Fantastic escape!

Pewale looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Becker puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Still in half guard, Becker seems content to control.

Becker looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pewale with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Becker winds up and cracks Pewale with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Becker takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Becker seems to be working for a kimura but Pewale defends the submission attempt.
Pewale wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Edmund Becker will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Pewale gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Becker is trying to push Pewale away but Pewale has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Pewale tightens his grip and picks Becker up, before dumping him to the ground. Becker manages to land in guard.

Becker is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Pewale has his hands clasped together but Becker extends and breaks Pewale's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Becker.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Edmund Becker!
