Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jorge Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeff Jones!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jones lands in his opponent's guard.
Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Jones controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Jones throwing strikes from guard but Smith blocks nicely.
Jones looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Jones decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Smith, up you get!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones moves into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith tries for a takedown. No joy.
Smith is pressed up against the cage. Jones has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Smith down to the mat. Smith avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jones lands with a thumping leg kick.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Smith has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith, which made it look bad.
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Smith fails with the takedown
and Jones counters with a solid body kick.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jorge Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Jones.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.

Smith shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jones's guard.
Jones wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smith manages to get himself to full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones slips nicely into half guard.

Jones decides to return to a standing position.

Jones gets a clinch.
Jones with a knee to the head.


It looks like Jorge Smith has been cut.
Smith has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jones avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Smith is breathing heavily.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Jones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Smith did well to prevent Jones getting side control.

Jones is trying to work for a kimura but Smith is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Smith is looking to control Jones's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smith avoid being mounted?
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeff Jones dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jorge Smith's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Smith takes one on the button.
Smith misses with a takedown

and Jones moves into the clinch.
Jones lands a knee to the body.
Smith has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Smith throws a right and a left that both miss.
Smith looks for a takedown but Jones sprawls well.

Jones forces Smith back against the cage and clinches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jones drives through with a takedown into Smith's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Jones advances to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Jones has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jones looking to control and managing it successfully.
Jones lands a big shot there that rocks Smith but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Smith is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Jones locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Smith is forced to tap!
