The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Atkins and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Mendes sizes up Diaz with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
It looks like Nate Diaz has been cut.
Diaz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Diaz takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Mendes missing with a left hand there. Diaz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Mendes lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Diaz is rocked!
Mendes tries a low kick but Diaz avoids it.
It looked like Diaz was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Oh Diaz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Diaz throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Diaz seems to have got his legs back now.
Mendes connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Diaz momentarily.
Diaz connects with a looping right hand.
Diaz scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mendes slips a jab and a cross from Diaz.
A little jabbing left from Mendes on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Mendes connects with a superb combination that knocks Diaz out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Mendes before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Diaz!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ricardo Mendes!
