PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gale Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaleb Adam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gale Perry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kaleb Adam!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adam throws a sloppy head kick and Perry moves out of range easily.
Perry has his takedown stuffed

and Adam counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Adam moves nicely into side control.
Adam should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Perry takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Perry manages to get back to half guard.
Adam is pressing down on Perry's thigh, looking to free his foot. Perry is holding on for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Adam seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Perry does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Perry tries to kick Adam off but Adam keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Adam has eaten all the pies!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Perry is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Adam's half guard.

Perry is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Adam doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Perry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Adam has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Perry is on him like a limpet, forcing Adam back against the cage.

Adam with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Adam is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Perry is looking for a triangle but Adam pushes his legs off easily.
Adam passes Perry's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Adam content to control rather than advance.

Adam has Perry up against the cage in a clinch.
Perry wants to take the fight to the mat but Adam manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Adam breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kaleb Adam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Adam fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Adam misses with a series of wild punches.
Horrible takedown attempt by Perry or perhaps it was just good defense by Adam, which made it look bad.

and Perry decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Adam's guard.

Adam bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Perry's guard.

Kaleb Adam has got the better of the ground game so far.
Adam throws a big elbow that misses.
Perry has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Adam has passed into side control.
Adam wants to control but Perry is keeping him busy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Perry is letting Adam control him for a moment.
Adam advances nicely into full mount.
Perry sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Adam tries to stand but can't do so whilst Perry controls his leg.

Adam looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Adam works his foot free and advances to mount.

Adam goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Perry is on top in guard.
Perry has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Perry accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Adam had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Perry defends it easily.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Adam throws a right hand that Perry ducks under and follows up with a left that Perry also avoids with ease.
Adam pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Perry tries to close the distance and clinch but Adam swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Adam.

Perry dives in for a single leg takedown but Adam sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Adam ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Adam no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Adam is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Perry defends well.
Adam wants to sweep here but Perry controlling him for the moment.

Adam has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Adam throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Adam fails with the takedown
and Adam takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Gale Perry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaleb Adam.

I would just about give that final round to Kaleb Adam.
Well Adam has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
