The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Markowski fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Royal has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Markowski throws a low kick but it's checked well by Royal.
Markowski swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Markowski is trying hard to land a takedown here. Royal sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Royal throws a nice looking combination but Markowski bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Royal cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Royal counters with a right hand to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Markowski shoots in for a double leg but Royal sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Royal shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Markowski eats them both and turns towards Royal to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Markowski takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Royal comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Markowski gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Royal.
Royal's jab looks to have found its range, popping Markowski under the eye.
Markowski has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Royal finds it's way round the side to connect with Markowski's head.

Royal wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Royal is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Markowski had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Markowski takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Royal fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Markowski checks it well.

Oooooh!!! Royal has knocked Markowski down with a huge combo! Royal steps away and waves a wobbly Markowski back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Oh Markowski is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Royal connects with a combination that backs up Markowski into the cage. Royal lands a flurry of punches that gets past Markowski's guard. Markowski is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Royal bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

In his post fight interview, Elroy Royal started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
In defeat, Dawid Markowski stepped up to the mic, saying 'Opponent was better! Thanks for fight!'.
