The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mastodon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

The fight stays on the outside here - Rowland looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mastodon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mastodon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Rowland is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Mastodon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Mastodon counters with a three punch combo that has Rowland backing up. Rowland nods at Mastodon to acknowledge the strikes.

Rowland gets caught napping as Mastodon dives in and scores a takedown. Rowland manages to retain guard.

Rowland tries to bum rush Mastodon with a series of wild strikes but Mastodon uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Mastodon closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mastodon is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Mastodon extends the arm and Rowland is forced to tap!
