Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Mera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugo Wolf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Jose Mera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hugo Wolf!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wolf drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mera is looking to regain half guard here but Wolf keeps moving and retains side control.
Wolf wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mera keeps working.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Wolf working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Mera wants to control but Wolf postures up.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mera takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Mera is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mera gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Mera is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Wolf lands strikes from half guard.
Wolf missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Mera makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mera.
Mera has his hands on Wolf's head, controlling the position.
Wolf is working Mera over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Mera isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Wolf stacks Mera on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Wolf!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mera manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice strikes from Wolf there.
Wolf is just content to waste time from the top position. Mera takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Wolf is working Mera over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Wolf is looking to work some ground and pound but Mera has wrist control.
Wolf lands a couple of digs.
Wolf missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mera tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wolf throws a big elbow that misses.

Wolf advances to half guard.
Mera tries to roll over but Wolf keeps him under control.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wolf connects with a nice short shot to Mera's temple.
Mera keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Wolf is nestled in close to Mera, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Wolf is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mera!
Wolf avoids the attempt from Mera to control.
Wolf has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mera is trying desperately to improve position.
Wolf is landing with some decent strikes but Mera is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Wolf breaks from Mera's wrist control and lands an elbow.


Mera is rocked!
Wolf lands a couple of good shots and Mera has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Oh Mera is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mera wants to control his opponent's hands but Wolf gets his hands free.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wolf lands a series of strikes from the back and Mera goes limp! The ref jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hugo Wolf!
After winning the bout, Hugo Wolf thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
