PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Finch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Razor Ramon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Finch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Razor Ramon!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramon has a takedown stuffed.

Finch feints and as Ramon raises his hands in defense, Finch changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ramon is pulling down on Finch's head. It's preventing any offense from Finch, at least for the moment.
Finch stands and throws Ramon's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Finch trying to control the position but Ramon is working away.
Ramon manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Finch in particular looking to stall.
Ramon tries to get to full guard but Finch has control of the leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ramon wants to get back to his feet.

Ramon with the active half guard here but Finch passes nicely into side control.
Finch trying to control the action but Ramon is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ramon is trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ramon dodges the ground and pound from Finch.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ramon checks a leg kick.
Finch shoots and misses
and Ramon counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Finch shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ramon pinned against the cage. Ramon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Finch shoots in looking for a takedown. Ramon tries to sprawl out of it but Finch keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ramon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Finch. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Finch is breathing heavily.
Finch closes the distance and clinches up with Ramon, looking for a takedown. Finch pushes Ramon against the cage but Ramon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ramon looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Finch is fending him off so far but Ramon persists. Nope, Finch circles away and we're back to standing.
Ramon misses with a takedown

and Finch counters with a nice double leg into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ramon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ramon decides to stand and escape the position.

Ramon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Finch, pushing him back against the cage.

Ramon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ramon throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ramon tests Finch's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Ramon closes the distance and clinches.
Ramon is working for takedown but Finch is calmly controlling the position for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ramon is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Finch pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Ramon jumps guard and drags Finch to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Finch stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Finch slips a jab and a cross from Ramon.
Finch stuffs the takedown.
Finch cracks the inside of Ramon's front leg.
Ramon darts in trying to clinch

and Finch holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Finch tries a knee to the head but Ramon blocks it.
Ramon tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ramon lands a knee to the body.
Ramon will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Finch up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Finch dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Ramon decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Finch regains full guard. Nicely done.
Ramon seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Ramon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Finch is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ramon, into his guard.
Ramon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Finch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Finch stops Ramon from standing up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Finch stays in close to Ramon's body and controls the position.
Ramon is looking to sweep but instead, Finch has passed into half guard.
Finch sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Finch stalling away here and it's allowed Ramon to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ramon wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Ramon's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Ramon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ramon keeping moving, preventing Finch from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ramon is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ramon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Finch throws and elbow that misses. Ramon uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Finch's guard. Nice move by Ramon!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ramon in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ramon tries to clinch but Finch moves out of range.
Ryan Finch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ramon gets a takedown into half guard.
Finch is trying to control but can't.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Finch tries to get to full guard but Ramon has control of the leg.
Finch is working hard here to advance position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Razor Ramon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Finch's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Ramon is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ramon keeping moving, preventing Finch from controlling successfully.

Finch wants to stand but Ramon has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Finch looking to pass the guard.
Ryan Finch overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ramon striking off his back but it's not causing Finch any problems.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ramon takes the fight into the clinch.
Ramon's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Ramon works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Finch keeping moving, preventing Ramon from controlling successfully.
Ramon tries to free his leg and advance position but Finch is retaining full guard.

Finch has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ramon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ramon won't allow Finch to sweep him here.

Finch had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ramon is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Finch Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ramon's back instead.
Finch has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Ramon's body.

Ramon staying busy and making it hard for Finch to control.

Finch patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Will Finch go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Finch looking for the RNC.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Finch's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Finch doesn't have the hooks in and Ramon manages to turn into his guard.
Ramon not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Finch counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ramon!

And that's the end of the fight!
Ryan Finch showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Finch has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
