PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between George Alvarez Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Jawetz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvarez Jr comes into the arena with LL COOL J MOMMA SAY KNOCK YOU OUT blaring out of the sound system. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Arthur Jawetz!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez Jr dodges the punch combination from Jawetz.
A shot to the body from Jawetz misses
and Alvarez Jr counters with a two punch combo.
Jawetz misses with a straight right.
Jawetz checks a leg kick.
Jawetz throws a left and a right that both miss
and Alvarez Jr counters with a one-two to the body.
Alvarez Jr looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A big left from Alvarez Jr misses.
Jawetz tries to clinch up
and Alvarez Jr counters with a right hand to the body.
Jawetz missing with a left hand there. Alvarez Jr was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Alvarez Jr just misses with a punch to the body.
Jawetz doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Alvarez Jr takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jawetz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Jawetz throws a body shot but no joy.

Alvarez Jr lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Jawetz looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Jawetz on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Jawetz lands the left hand.
Alvarez Jr feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Jawetzs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Arthur Jawetz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jawetz jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jawetz just misses with a punch to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Jawetz. Those never looked like landing.
Jawetz bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jawetz takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Jawetz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Alvarez Jr manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jawetz throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Alvarez Jr counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A big right from Alvarez Jr misses.

Alvarez Jr is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jawetz's half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jawetz can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jawetz is trying to control but can't.
Jawetz moves into full guard.
Alvarez Jr lands a couple of elbows.

Jawetz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alvarez Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alvarez Jr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jawetz wants to stand and escape but Alvarez Jr is having none of it.
Alvarez Jr lands a couple of decent looking shots.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alvarez Jr distracts Jawetz with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Jawetz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Alvarez Jr is one step ahead there.
Alvarez Jr loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Alvarez Jr working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Alvarez Jr keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jawetz's head.
Alvarez Jr with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Jawetz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Alvarez Jr is one step ahead there.

Alvarez Jr stays in close to Jawetz's body and controls the position.

Jawetz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Alvarez Jr defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alvarez Jr is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jawetz is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jawetz has escaped and now he's on top!

Jawetz stops Alvarez Jr from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Alvarez Jr dominated that round.
That's time! Alvarez Jr's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Jawetz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Alvarez Jr looks to land a combination but Jawetz avoids it well.

and Alvarez Jr counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Jawetz!

Alvarez Jr is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jawetz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Alvarez Jr wants to control but Jawetz is keeping him busy.
Jawetz takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Jawetz can't do much from the bottom here.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Alvarez Jr in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Jawetz looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Alvarez Jr turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
