These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Richmond.
Simmons looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Simmons blocks a head kick by Richmond.
Simmons avoids the head kick by Richmond.
Richmond bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Simmons's head.
Richmond throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Simmons.

Simmons instigates a clinch.
Richmond tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Simmons smiles and moves away.

Simmons feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Richmond wants to stand and escape but Simmons is having none of it.

Richmond kicks Simmons off and gets to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Richmond shoots in for a takedown but Simmons shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Richmond has his feet on Simmons's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Simmons avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Richmond has his foot on Simmons's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Simmons works his way back into a safe position though.

Richmond is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Simmons has his hands clasped together but Richmond extends and breaks Simmons's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Richmond.
