Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Koepke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Emperlianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Koepke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emperlianenko!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koepke shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Emperlianenko pinned against the cage. Emperlianenko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Koepke shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Emperlianenko but Emperlianenko pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Koepke tries to close the distance and clinch but Emperlianenko swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Koepke moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Emperlianenko fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Koepke shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Koepke drops back looking for a leg! Emperlianenko is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Emperlianenko manages to kick Koepke off! Koepke jumps back into Emperlianenko's guard.

Emperlianenko has control of Koepke's left arm, preventing Koepke from doing any damage.
Emperlianenko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Koepke wants to get up but he can't break Emperlianenko's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Emperlianenko drops Koepke with a left and a right! Oh, Koepke is hurt - Emperlianenko dives into side control looking to finish!


It looks like James Koepke has been cut.
Koepke is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Emperlianenko creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Koepke is looking to reverse the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Emperlianenko scores with a couple of short elbows.
Koepke managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Emperlianenko.
Emperlianenko is staying tight to Koepke's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Koepke holds on to Emperlianenko's head and controls the position momentarily.
Koepke throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

Emperlianenko tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Emperlianenko advances nicely into full mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Emperlianenko has hold of Koepke's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Koepke manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
BOOM! Emperlianenko connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Koepke takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Emperlianenko tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Koepke is desperately trying to improve his position but Emperlianenko has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fedor Emperlianenko dominated that round.
The cut man is working on James Koepke's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Emperlianenko lands with an uppercut that bounces Koepke off the cage and back into rage.
Emperlianenko catches Koepke with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Fedor Emperlianenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Emperlianenko's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Emperlianenko duly obliges.
Koepke tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Koepke will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Emperlianenko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Koepke's guard.
Emperlianenko seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Emperlianenko is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Koepke is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Koepke has escaped and now he's on top!

Koepke lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
