PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Evan Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Oughton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davies comes to the cage accompanied by Sweet Child of Mine. Oughton has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Scott Oughton looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Evan Davies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Scott Oughton!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies throws a combination. Oughton tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Oughton looks gassed!

Oughton gets caught flat footed, as Davies shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Davies gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Oughton takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Davies misses with a head kick.

Davies scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Well, if Davies is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Davies seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Oughton for as long as he can get away with.
Davies works his foot free and advances to mount.

Davies fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Oughton sprawls well initially but Davies persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Davies prevents Oughton from improving his position.
Davies is looking to advance position but Oughton won't allow it.

Oughton on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Oughton tries to get to full guard but Davies has control of the leg.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Davies connects with a nice short shot to Oughton's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davies is taking a breather. Oughton says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Davies bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Oughton can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Davies controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
