Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wally Portman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Turgeon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniel Turgeon has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Wally Portman's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wally Portman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Turgeon!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Turgeon has Portman up against the cage in a clinch.
Turgeon misses with a punch to the body.
Portman goes for a takedown in the clinch but Turgeon prevents it.
Turgeon slowing the pace effectively.

Turgeon jumps guard and drags Portman to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Turgeon is looking to stand up but Portman isn't so interested in that idea.
Turgeon keeping full guard, as Portman tries to pass.
Portman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Turgeon is working an open guard so Portman takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Turgeon darts in and clinches Portman up against the cage.
Turgeon is pushing Portman up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Turgeon tries to land knees in the clinch but Portman avoids the damage to the body.
Turgeon crunches a lovely knee into Portman's ribcage.
Turgeon is stalling here.
Turgeon misses with a hook from the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Turgeon - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
The crowd are getting on Turgeon's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
Turgeon misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Turgeon controlling the action here for a moment.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Daniel Turgeon.
Portman goes for a double leg but Turgeon avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Turgeon continues to drive forward.
Turgeon taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Portman goes for a takedown attempt but Turgeon pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wally Portman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Turgeon looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Turgeon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Portman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Turgeon is stalling here. Portman is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Turgeon seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Portman has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Portman tries for a kimura but Turgeon is defending well.

Turgeon is looking for a sweep.
Turgeon wants to get back to his feet but Portman drags him back down.
We've been informed that Turgeon has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Portman is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Turgeon looks calm but he's in trouble here. Portman gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Turgeon is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Portman lets go of the hold and Turgeon can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Wally Portman!
Our winner, Wally Portman, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
