Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Smiles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tedja Ranu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smiles's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Iron Maiden- Ghostface Killah. Ranu has chosen Marabahaya - Saint Loco ft. Project E.A.R as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Smiles. Those never looked like landing.
Ranu throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Smiles lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A telegraphed right hand from Smiles misses the target.

Ranu closes the distance and pushes Smiles back into the cage.
Ranu goes for a takedown in the clinch but Smiles prevents it.

Smiles jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ranu walks away with a smile on his face. Smiles gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Smiles throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ranu stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ranu bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Ranu wants to clinch up but Smiles keeps it at a distance.

Smiles throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ranu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smiles tries to avoid it but Ranu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smiles to the ground. Smiles escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Smiles ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ranu moves away.

Ranu shoots in for a double leg but Smiles sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Smiles shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ranu eats them both and turns towards Smiles to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Smiles stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smiles wants it to stay on the feet.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Smiles crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Ranu - the referee stops the clock and Smiles gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Ranu. Smiles manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Ranu takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Smiles throws a right hand that Ranu ducks under and follows up with a left that Ranu also avoids with ease.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alex Smiles.
