Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Julius Gable (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Dos Anjos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paulo Dos Anjos has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Julius Gable!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paulo Dos Anjos!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gable throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Dos Anjos.

Dos Anjos closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Gable is looking to reverse the position.
Dos Anjos trying to control the position but Gable is working away.

Dos Anjos goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gable has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Dos Anjos but great work by Gable.

Gable wants to control but Dos Anjos is keeping him busy.

Gable tries to advance to mount but can't.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gable tries to close the distance and clinch but Dos Anjos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Dos Anjos counters with a single leg into guard. Gable didn't expect that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dos Anjos prevents Gable from getting back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dos Anjos looking to sit in guard and control but Gable gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gable connects with a couple of short punches.

Gable drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gable jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Dos Anjos has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gable is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dos Anjos.
Dos Anjos manages to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Dos Anjos throws a right hand that Gable ducks under and follows up with a left that Gable also avoids with ease.
Gable looks for a takedown but Dos Anjos sprawls well.
Gable stuffs the takedown attempt from Dos Anjos. Dos Anjos gets slowly back to his feet.
Dos Anjos wants to clinch up but Gable keeps it at a distance.
Julius Gable is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dos Anjos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gable connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Gable counters with a head kick. That will keep Dos Anjos thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Julius Gable has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paulo Dos Anjos.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gable lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Dos Anjos backs up against the cage.

Dos Anjos jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Gable is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Gable and Dos Anjos has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Dos Anjos wants to control but Gable is keeping him busy.
Dos Anjos takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Dos Anjos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Dos Anjos stalling away here and it's allowed Gable to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Gable is looking for a triangle but Dos Anjos pushes his legs off easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Paulo Dos Anjos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Gable has his takedown stuffed

and Dos Anjos counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Dos Anjos throws a strike but Gable rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Dos Anjos looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Gable puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dos Anjos wants to get back to full guard but Gable has mounted him!
Gable manages to capitalize on a mistake by Dos Anjos to take his back!

Dos Anjos wants to escape the position.
Dos Anjos is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Gable really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gable is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Gable gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Gable gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Gable apologises and we restart here on the feet.

and Dos Anjos decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gable's guard.

Dos Anjos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gable manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dos Anjos has Gable in his guard.
Dos Anjos has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Gable has passed into side control.

Dos Anjos avoids the head kick by Gable.
Horrible takedown by Dos Anjos or perhaps it was just good defense by Gable which made him look bad.

Gable lands a left hand that snaps the head of Dos Anjos backwards.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Dos Anjos breaks from the clinch.
Gable moves in looking to clinch but Dos Anjos pushes him off.

Dos Anjos shoots in and bounces Gable off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Dos Anjos postures up in Gable's guard and throws a big left but Gable blocks it.
Dos Anjos trying to control but Gable is working from the bottom.
Julius Gable has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Paulo Dos Anjos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
Paulo Dos Anjos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Dos Anjos winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
