Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sergio Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Serge Carpenter!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez moves in looking to clinch but Carpenter pushes him off.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Perez. Carpenter shrugs it off though.

Perez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Perez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Perez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Perez is wriggling around but Carpenter manages to pass to half guard.
Perez tries to get to full guard but Carpenter has control of the leg.
Carpenter content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Perez moves into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carpenter stays in close to Perez's body and controls the position.

Perez striking off his back but it's not causing Carpenter any problems.
Carpenter stops Perez from standing up.
Perez is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Perez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carpenter's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carpenter can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Perez is breathing heavily.
Carpenter controlling the position.
Perez won't allow Carpenter to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perez stops Carpenter from standing up.
Carpenter keeping moving, preventing Perez from controlling successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Carpenter closes the distance and clinches up with Perez, looking for a takedown. Carpenter pushes Perez against the cage but Perez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Perez scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Carpenter doesn't seem bothered though.
Perez throws a head kick that Carpenter semi-blocks.

Perez wants to clinch.
Perez misses with a wild combination.
Carpenter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Perez has taken the fight to the clinch.
Perez landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Perez lands an elbow inside that Carpenter shrugs off.
Perez tries for a takedown. No joy.
Perez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Carpenter gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Carpenter is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Perez gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Perez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Perez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Carpenter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Carpenter won't allow Perez to get back to his feet.

Carpenter throws a right and a left that Perez avoids nicely.

Carpenter closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Perez gets back to half guard.
Perez tries to roll over but Carpenter keeps him under control.
Carpenter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Perez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Carpenter looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Perez stuffs the takedown.
Perez lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Carpenter shoots for a double leg takedown but Perez sprawls well. He's pushed Carpenter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

enabling Perez to counter with a crisp jab.
Perez lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

and Carpenter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Perez pushes Carpenter off and scrambles back to his feet.
Carpenter doesn't manage to clinch there - Perez circles away.
Perez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Carpenter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Perez as he avoids it easily.
Sergio Perez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Serge Carpenter.
Perez fails in his attempt to clinch.

Carpenter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Perez's waist but Perez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carpenter off to one side.
Perez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Carpenter. That did some damage!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Carpenter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Carpenter is stalling in the full guard.

Serge Carpenter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Perez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Carpenter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Perez but Perez pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Carpenter decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Perez is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Perez slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Carpenter looking to sit in guard and control but Perez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Serge Carpenter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Carpenter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
