The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mario feints and as Marquez raises his hands in defense, Mario changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Mario pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Marquez is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mario trying to control the position from guard on top but Marquez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mario looking to sit in guard and control but Marquez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Marquez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Marquez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Marquez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Mario has his foot on Marquez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Marquez works his way back into a safe position though.

Mario controls Marquez momentarily but Marquez frees himself.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mario throwing strikes but Marquez manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Marquez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mario is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Marquez is working to tighten his grip on Mario's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mario has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Marquez is really squeezing tight and eventually Mario passes out! Marquez breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
