PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brooklyn Brawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tero Elo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brawler might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Where Brooklyn At?!?!. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Tero Elo enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brooklyn Brawler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tero Elo!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Elo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Elo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brawler doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Elo.

Elo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Elo is working for a kimura but Brawler is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Elo is pressing down on Brawler's thigh, looking to free his foot. Brawler is holding on for now.

Elo seems to be working for a kimura but Brawler defends the submission attempt.

Elo is working for a submission of some sort.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Elo wants to pass the guard but Brawler is defending well.

Elo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brawler defends it well.
Elo prevents Brawler from improving his position.

Elo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Elo is controlling the pace.
Elo trying to control the action but Brawler is working from the bottom.
Brawler is trying to maintain the position but Elo is very close to passing his half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Elo is looking to take a break and control but Brawler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tero Elo dominated that round.
That's time! Brawler's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Elo shoots in looking for a takedown. Brawler tries to sprawl out of it but Elo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brawler manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Brawler lands with a hook. Elo tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
We've been told by Brawler's head coaches at Silverback MMA Academy (Elite + Sauna & 160VM) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
A big right from Brawler misses.
A left and a right from Brawler both land. Nice combination.
Brawler cracks Elo with a right hand to the side of the head.
Brawler misses with a series of wild punches.

Elo gets a double leg takedown into Brawler's guard.
Brawler will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Elo trying to control the position from guard on top but Brawler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Elo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Brawler is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Elo, into his guard.

Elo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Elo throws his legs up looking for a submission but Brawler uses it to pass to side control.
Elo is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Brawler is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Elo tries to hold on but Brawler pushes him away.
Brawler tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Elo working to try and regain half guard.

Elo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Brawler looking to control but Elo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Elo can't escape the position.
Brawler controlling the position easily from mount.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Elo tries to hold on but Brawler pushes him away.
Elo is in all sorts of trouble here.

Brawler controlling the position easily from mount.
Elo gets back to half guard.
Elo is looking for a sweep. Brawler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Brooklyn Brawler just wasn't active enough.
Brawler stuffs the takedown attempt from Elo. Elo gets slowly back to his feet.
Brawler lands with a shot to the body.
Brawler throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Elo on the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brawler scores with a jab to the head.
Brawler misses with the combination.
Brawler ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Elo moves away.
Horrible takedown attempt by Elo or perhaps it was just good defense by Brawler, which made it look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brooklyn Brawler dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Elo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brawler as he jumps to the side.
Elo slips a jab and a cross from Brawler.
Elo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Brawler tries a head kick but it misses.
Brawler misses with a two punch combination.

Elo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Brawler napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Elo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brawler keeps working.

Elo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Brawler has escaped the position, nice work there.

Elo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Elo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Brawler is trying to improve his position.

Elo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Brawler has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Elo but great work by Brawler.
Elo is trying to get back to half guard.
Brawler gets to mount! Elo was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Elo sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brawler slows the pace down in half guard.
Elo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Elo is looking to control Brawler's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Elo avoid being mounted?
Brawler prevents Elo from improving his position.
Tero Elo has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Elo wants to control but Brawler is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Elo tries to get to full guard but Brawler has control of the leg.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Elo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Brooklyn Brawler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tero Elo.
Brawler just misses with a punch to the body.
Elo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Brawler.
Nice defenses there by Elo.
The crowd cheers as Brawler lands an impressive looking overhand right. Elo doesn't seem phased though.
Brawler fails to land with a series of punches.
Elo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Brawler as he avoids it easily.
Brawler misses with a body kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Elo.
Elo avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

and Elo counters with a takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tero Elo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Elo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
