Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kiichi Miyazawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Rey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kiichi Miyazawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Rey!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rey fails with the takedown.

Miyazawa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rey swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Miyazawa drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Miyazawa jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Rey is looking to stand up but Miyazawa isn't so interested in that idea.

Rey shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Miyazawa is trying to defend but Rey finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Rey must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rey tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Miyazawa defends well and Rey ends up having to push Miyazawa into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Kiichi Miyazawa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Rey.

Miyazawa closes the distance and clinches up with Rey, looking for a takedown. Miyazawa pushes Rey against the cage but Rey circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rey wants to stand and escape but Miyazawa is having none of it.
Miyazawa is looking to work some ground and pound but Rey has wrist control.
Miyazawa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rey swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rey is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Rey drops down looking for an ankle pick but Miyazawa pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nice sprawl there from Rey as Miyazawa shoots in.
Rey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Miyazawa sprawls well. Miyazawa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rey gets slowly back to his feet.

No joy there for Rey, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rey shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Miyazawa pinned against the cage. Miyazawa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Miyazawa misses with a takedown attempt - Rey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Rey lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Miyazawa feints and as Rey raises his hands in defense, Miyazawa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Well Rey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
