PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Monty Terry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petr Cech (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Monty Terry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Petr Cech!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cech shoots in looking for a takedown but Terry manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cech's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Cech rushes Terry and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Terry drags the fight down to the ground.
Terry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Cech decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Cech fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Terry keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Monty Terry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Petr Cech.
Cech is looking to score with low kicks.
Cech fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Terry manages to avoid it.

Terry is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Cech is defending well.

A frustrated look appears on Cech's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Terry jumps guard but Cech turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Terry working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cech doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cech manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cech shoots in for a takedown but Terry shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Cech feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cech stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Terry swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Terry escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cech gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Terry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cech got a little sloppy there for a moment and Terry has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cech has managed to get both his arms back between Terry's legs - danger averted.
Cech controls from within his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Terry is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cech is aware though and is defending well.
Cech won't allow Terry to get back to his feet.
Cech in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Terry is squirming around, avoiding Cech's attempts to control the action.

Petr Cech showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Cech will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cech slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Cech wants to control from the top but Terry keeps moving.
Cech really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Terry. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Petr Cech.
The fight stays on the outside here - Terry looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Terry is in all sorts of trouble here.

Monty Terry has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Petr Cech is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Petr Cech comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cech has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
