Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ondrej Rigo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Heishiro Mitsurugi!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rigo moves out of range of the body kick from Mitsurugi.
Mitsurugi connects with an inside leg kick.
Mitsurugi misses with a head kick.
Mitsurugi connects with a solid leg kick.
Mitsurugi throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Rigo's head.
Mitsurugi tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Rigo is able to avoid easily.
Rigo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mitsurugi pinned against the cage. Mitsurugi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mitsurugi throws a leg kick but Rigo sees it coming and moves out of range.
Mitsurugi misses with a low kick as Rigo jumps back.
Rigo shoots in looking for a takedown but Mitsurugi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rigo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Mitsurugi scores with a leg kick.
Rigo avoids the head kick by Mitsurugi.
Mitsurugi pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Mitsurugi gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Rigo is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ondrej Rigo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mitsurugi breaks from the clinch.
Mitsurugi connects with a leg kick. Rigo looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Mitsurugi doesn't manage to clinch there - Rigo circles away.
Mitsurugi misses with a body shot.
Mitsurugi misses with a head kick.
Mitsurugi looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Mitsurugi has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Rigo is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Mitsurugi throws a series of punches but Rigo avoids them all with ease.
Heishiro Mitsurugi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mitsurugi closes the distance and clinches.
Mitsurugi tries to break free but Rigo pushes him back against the cage.

Rigo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mitsurugi misses with an attempted mid kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Mitsurugi.
Mitsurugi throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mitsurugi is looking to score with low kicks.
Mitsurugi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rigo shoots for a takedown but Mitsurugi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mitsurugi lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mitsurugi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rigo keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Mitsurugi moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Mitsurugi throws a nice head kick!
Mitsurugi throws a low kick but it's checked well by Rigo.
Mitsurugi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A punch lands to the side of Rigo 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Rigo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Rigo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mitsurugi sees it coming and defends easily.
Mitsurugi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rigo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rigo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Rigo is trying for a kimura here. Mitsurugi looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Rigo wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ondrej Rigo!
A very excited looking Ondrej Rigo made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
