PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Velasqs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sylwester Karwowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karwowski has chosen Metallica - Enter Sandman as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Velasqs misses.
Velasqs dips to his left and cracks Karwowski with an uppercut!
Velasqs jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Karwowski felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Karwowski connects with a nice short shot to Velasqs's temple.

Velasqs has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Karwowski is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Velasqs.

Karwowski cracks Velasqs with a big right hand but Velasqs just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Velasqs wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Karwowski is working to tighten his grip on Velasqs's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Velasqs has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Karwowski is really squeezing tight and eventually Velasqs passes out! Karwowski breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
