Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Donny Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Willy Killer!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Paul darts in and clinches Killer up against the cage.
Paul is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Killer to keep the fight standing.

Killer manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Killer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Paul doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Paul manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Killer looking to control.
Paul wants to get up but he can't break Killer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Paul could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Paul postures up.
Paul wants to stand but Killer is controlling his posture from full guard.
Killer manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Killer looking for a guillotine from mount but Paul is having none of it.

Killer moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Paul has worked his arm free - good work by Paul!

Killer works to advance to full mount. Paul defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Killer looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Killer has hold of Paul's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Paul manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Killer jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Paul is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Paul and Killer has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Killer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Paul knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Killer is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Paul has escaped the position, nice work there.

Killer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Paul, who protects the arm well.
Killer has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Killer goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Paul turns into him and now he's in Killer's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Killer wants to sweep here but Paul controlling him for the moment.
Killer not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Killer lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Paul looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Killer wants to pass the guard but Paul is keeping the position.
Paul trying to keep a closed guard but Killer is proving a slippery customer.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Killer wants to pass the guard but Paul is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Willy Killer dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Paul shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Killer eats them both and turns towards Paul to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Paul fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Paul has managed to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Killer jumps into guard, dragging Paul to the mat.
Killer controls Paul momentarily but Paul frees himself.
Paul has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Killer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Killer moves nicely into side control.
Paul is looking to reverse the position.

Killer is trying to get an arm triangle but Paul is defending well.
Killer tries to advance to mount but can't.

Killer has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Paul!

Killer is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Paul has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Killer is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Paul has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Paul!

Killer is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Paul would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Killer is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Paul has his hands clasped together but Killer extends and breaks Paul's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Killer.
