Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Pipiskin!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pipiskin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nieves paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nieves avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Pipiskin gets a clinch.
Pipiskin lands a hook that snaps the head of Nieves backwards.
Pipiskin manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Still in the clinch, Pipiskin scores with a nice short uppercut.

Pipiskin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Nieves just misses with a elbow thrown towards Pipiskin's brow.

Nieves goes for a double leg but Pipiskin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pipiskin continues to drive forward.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Nieves on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Pipiskin can't find room to land a body shot as Nieves controls the action.

Pipiskin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nieves has him pressed against the cage.

Nieves steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pipiskin.

The fight stays on the outside here - Pipiskin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nieves changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pipiskin tries to avoid it but Nieves manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pipiskin to the ground. Pipiskin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Pipiskin has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Nieves has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
