PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Allen Cabrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Allen Cabrera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Craig Harris!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cabrera tries to clinch but Harris is having none of it.
Harris misses with an uppercut.
Harris throws a series of punches but Cabrera avoids them all with ease.
Harris throws a predictable looking body shot
and Cabrera counters with a nice body kick.
Harris shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cabrera defends it nicely.
Cabrera misses with a two punch combination.
Cabrera tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Harris paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Harris drives through and clinches with Cabrera against the cage.
Cabrera keeps control of Harris as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
A bit of stalling here from Cabrera.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Harris.


It looks like Allen Cabrera has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Harris gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Harris is looking to advance position but Cabrera won't allow it.
Harris trying to control from half guard but Cabrera is working away.
Harris prevents Cabrera from improving his position.
Cabrera is working hard here to advance position.
Harris wants to control but Cabrera is keeping him busy.
Harris is nestled in close to Cabrera, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Harris looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Harris trying to control the action but Cabrera is working from the bottom.
Cabrera looks like he's trying to stand up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Craig Harris.
No luck for Harris with that takedown attempt.

Harris decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Harris prevents Cabrera from standing back up.
Cabrera trying to control but Harris postures up.

Harris makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Harris wanted to stand there but Cabrera had control of the position.

Harris stands up from Cabrera's guard - Harris perhaps looking for a knockout.

Harris clinches up with Cabrera and pushes him back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harris has Cabrera pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cabrera manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Allen Cabrera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Craig Harris.
Cabrera looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Harris is trying to pull guard but Cabrera turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Harris has had enough of the clinch but Cabrera keeps him there for the moment.
Cabrera tries to break the clinch but Harris is controlling the position.
Cabrera's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Cabrera is trying to force a seperation but Harris has the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Harris is trying to pull guard but Cabrera has him pressed against the cage.
Come on Cabrera - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Cabrera wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig Harris dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Allen Cabrera's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Harris decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Harris stands up from half guard.
Cabrera wants to clinch.
Cabrera doesn't manage to clinch there - Harris circles away.

Harris closes the distance and pushes Cabrera back into the cage.

Cabrera breaks from the clinch.
Harris throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cabrera stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Harris.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Harris.

Harris clinches up with Cabrera and pushes him back against the cage.

Harris pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Harris takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Cabrera defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Harris.
Allen Cabrera is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Harris scores with a hook to the body. Cabrera takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Harris thows a body shot but no joy.
Harris doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Cabrera counters with a good, hard body kick but Harris shrugs it off.

Harris rushes Cabrera and presses him up against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cabrera escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Cabrera closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Harris slows down the pace here.
Cabrera is looking to control Harris's arms but Harris gets an underhook and turns him. Now Cabrera has his back to the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cabrera is trying to force a seperation but Harris has the dominant position.
Harris tries to score a body lock takedown but Cabrera shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Allen Cabrera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Craig Harris.

Cabrera wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Harris tries a body shot but Cabrera blocks it.
Harris tries for a takedown but Cabrera manages to get underhooks.

Cabrera is trying to push Harris away but Harris has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Cabrera is trying to force a seperation but Harris has the dominant position.

The referee is keeping an eye on Cabrera - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Harris changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cabrera fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Cabrera tries to close the distance and clinch but Harris swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cabrera jumps guard but Harris turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Cabrera scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Harris turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Harris manages to end up in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig Harris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Allen Cabrera's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Harris sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Cabrera moves into the clinch successfully.
Harris is trying to pull guard but Cabrera has him pressed against the cage.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Harris. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Harris is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Cabrera's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Cabrera seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Harris drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cabrera gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Cabrera is trying to break the clinch but Harris is controlling him.

Harris jumps guard but Cabrera stands there with Harris around his waist. Harris gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cabrera pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Harris misses with a wild combination.
Harris swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cabrera counters with a big head kick but Harris shrugs it off.
Harris shoots in looking for a takedown but Cabrera manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Harris's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cabrera tries to clinch but Harris moves out of range.
Harris shoots in but Cabrera avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Harris circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cabrera fails in his attempt to clinch.
Harris shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cabrera pinned against the cage. Cabrera gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Cabrera tries to clinch but Harris moves out of range.
Harris shoots in and drives through. Cabrera sprawls well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harris swats away the attempt to clinch by Cabrera.
Harris shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Cabrera moves into range and clinches up with Harris.
Harris misses with an elbow over the top.
Harris misses with some punches.
Harris can't break the clinch.
Harris tries to pull guard but Cabrera holds him up against the cage and eventually Harris drops back down to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Allen Cabrera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Craig Harris is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Harris keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Cabrera's efforts to push away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Allen Cabrera showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Harris has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
